Passionate about diabetes & mental health and looking to join our team?

We are seeking a dedicated provisional or registered psychologist, Canadian Certified Counsellor, or Counselling Therapist who is interested in working with children, teens, and families living with and caring for diabetes to join our team in a contract position.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive mental health support and guidance to those living with diabetes and their families/caregivers. This role requires strong communication skills, empathy, and a solid understanding of general health management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide evidence-based, culturally responsive and trauma-informed counselling to populations you are specialized and interested in working with (e.g. children, teens, adults, couples, families, groups).
  • Maintain accurate records of patient interactions, treatment plans, and progress.
  • Keep updated with the latest in best practices in mental health treatment.
  • Integrate Jane app features (e.g. booking portal, clinically validated measures, entering tasks to work on outside of session). Training will be provided.
  • Attend regular team meetings and case consultations to contribute to a collaborative work environment and strive for quality care.
  • Work towards seeing a minimum of 20 clients a week in-person and virtually combined, including some weekend and evening sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Clinical training in evidence-based approaches such as ACT, EMDR, EFT, ERP, etc.
  • Experience providing individual therapy to children, teens and/or adults. Experience providing couples, family and/or group therapy is an asset.
  • Registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists, certification with the Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and/or Association of Counselling Therapists of Alberta (ACTA), and in good standing.
  • Completed a Masters or Doctoral degree in Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology or School and Clinical Child Psychology.
  • Professional liability insurance, including cyber liability.
  • Lived experience with diabetes is considered an asset, as it brings valuable insight and empathy to the role, but is not a requirement.
  • Strong understanding and adherence to professional ethics.
  • Excellent oral and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education.
  • Note: If you are a Provisional Psychologist, you will need to have an external supervisor.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $90.00-$115.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week (based on caseload – will take time to build)
