Here are a few of the questions I often get asked about my practice:

What is your designation?

Each of our therapists have their own designations.

Kayla is a Canadian Certified Counsellors (CCC) through the Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and a Counselling Therapist with the Association of Counselling Therapy of Alberta (ACTA).

Kevin is a Canadian Certified Counsellors (CCC) through the Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) through The College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).

Do you offer in person and online counselling?

Yes! You can schedule either an in person or online session, depending on your location and personal preferences. We are located at #100 10004 79 Avenue NW Edmonton, Alberta.

What is the current fee for a 50-minute session?

Our fees vary depending on the service and provider. please visit our booking page for more information on session costs.

Fees may increase due to changes in operational costs, for GST adjustments, etc. throughout the year. Clients will be informed of any changes to the fee schedule well in advance.

What type of payment do you currently accept?

Payment can be made in a timely manner after session through credit card (VISA, MasterCard, or American Express) or by e-transfer sent to [email protected]. Once the payment has been received, a detailed receipt will be sent to you. You may then submit the receipt to your insurance company for reimbursement, if applicable.

Will my insurance company cover counselling?

Some insurance companies cover the designations of Canadian Certified Counsellor, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), and Counselling Therapist.

Canadian Certified Counsellors may be covered by:

  • Equitable Life
  • Greenshield
  • SunLife
  • ASEBP
  • Blue Cross (select plans)

**We encourage you to reach out to your insurance company before our first session to see if your specific insurance plan will reimburse you for the cost of counselling, either partially or fully.**

What type of equipment do I need for online counselling?

We will be connecting over a secure video conferencing service. As such, you will need access to a secure and reliable wifi network, a computer, along with a webcam & mic. I also suggest the use of headphones, if possible.

What video conferencing service do you use?

Currently, Pineapple Therapy uses the Jane App. It is HIPAA and PIPEDA compliant, meaning that the network is secure and meets the American Psychological Association’s (APA) Standards for encryption. Clients can schedule appointments once they have created an account. To create an account, click here.

Can I book, reschedule, and cancel appointments myself?

Yes! All of this can be done through the Jane App. Click here for all your appointment needs.

How much notice do I need to give when I cancel an appointment?

48 hours is appreciated, as it allows other clients to book the time. A late cancellation fee will apply if you cancel within the 48 hour window. No shows will result in a full fee charge, as this time has been set aside for you.

What should I expect during our free 15-minute consultation & how do I sign up?

We will keep it casual. This is an opportunity to see if we are the right fit for each other. Generally, we will ask you what has brought you to the decision to pursue counselling, and what your goals are for therapy. You are also welcome to ask any questions you have at that time.

You can reach out to us to schedule a free phone consultation with one of our therapists.

Can I access therapy from anywhere in Canada?

Although we are based out of Edmonton, Alberta, you can access online video therapy if you are a resident of Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon, Nunavut, Ontario (Kevin only) or the North West Territories. We look forward to connecting with you!
